Saskatchewan Employment Incentive (SEI)

The Saskatchewan Employment Incentive (SEI) provides working families who have low incomes with a monthly financial benefit, Supplementary Health Benefits, access to discounted bus passes (where available), connections to employment supports through the Ministry of Immigration and Career Training and access to the Saskatchewan Housing Benefit through the Saskatchewan Housing Corporation.

1. Benefits

The amount of the incentive is based on:

  • Your family income; and
  • The number of eligible children in your family.

Maximum SEI amounts are available when your family income from employment and/or self-employment falls between $500 and $2,200 per month, before deductions.

Eligible Children Maximum Incentive per Month
1 $400
2 $500
3+ $600

When your family income is over $2,200 per month, the SEI is reduced by 30 cents for every additional dollar of income over $2,200.

The maximum family income for SEI is based on the number of eligible children you have (see Maximum Family Income table below).

If you would like to know more about SEI and how it is calculated, a fact sheet and rate sheet with examples are available.
