What you can expect from our online updates

We use our social media accounts as an alternate method of sharing content posted on our website, which allows us to interact with citizens. By following our social media accounts, you will see important updates about various programs and services we provide. All our accounts vary in terms of content to meet the objectives of each channel. We publish timely information while ensuring the right focus and purpose for each account. We generally post a few times a day every weekday (however, not on Saskatchewan statutory holidays).

If you require emergency medical, police or other similar services, please dial 9-1-1 to access the necessary emergency assistance.


Availability

Our social media accounts are monitored Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding Saskatchewan statutory holidays. Any inquiries made during evenings or weekends will be addressed during regular work hours. We are not responsible for any service disruptions resulting from downtime on Meta, X (formerly Twitter), LinkedIn or YouTube. We apologize for any inconvenience it may cause but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access to our services during such periods. We recommend checking the status of these social media platforms for updates.


Interacting with us on Social Media

As part of our commitment to transparency and open dialogue, we encourage citizens to actively participate in discussions on our social media channels. We want to ensure that comments contribute to a productive conversation for everyone participating. We understand that you may have concerns or issues, but please keep things polite and considerate.

We can’t commit to responding to each discussion, comment or message, but we will participate in conversations when applicable and as frequently as possible. We will address questions and comments individually and, on a case-by-case basis, as received through account posts, private messages or via direct mentions.

By interacting with our social media channels all citizens are obliged by the terms of use and all related policies and rules of the platform, which regulates user access and usage. We highly recommend that citizens carefully read the terms of use before interacting.

Citizens are fully responsible for their comments posted on any social media channels. However, to ensure a respectful and constructive environment for all citizens, we have established the following guidelines for engagement. We reserve the right to hide or remove comments that:

  • Contain personal information;
  • Are racist, hateful, sexist, homophobic, slanderous, insulting or life-threatening;
  • Presents serious, unproven, unsupported, or inaccurate accusations against individuals or organizations;
  • Are abusive, aggressive, coarse, explicit, vulgar, violent, obscene or pornographic;
  • Are personal attacks and/or defamatory statements;
  • Encourage or suggest illegal activity;
  • Communicate solicitations, advertisements, or endorsements of any financial, commercial or non-governmental agency. Similarly, we do not allow attempts to defame or defraud any financial, commercial or non-governmental agency;
  • Are not sent by the author and/or are posted by anonymous or robot accounts;
  • Exhibit repetitive posts copied and pasted by multiple users;
  • Are off topic. We encourage focused, thoughtful comments and discussions that respond to, or relate to, the content posted on our social media channels. Off-topic comments that are not related to our content or attempt to derail the conversation may be removed;
  • Are messages creating an inappropriate flow of discussion or do not add to the conversation.

Comment Moderation

The Government of Saskatchewan reserves the right to moderate comments. Citizens who continually disregard our guidelines will be given three (3) written warnings before being banned from our social media channels.


Following/Subscribing

Our choice to follow specific citizens or channels does not constitute endorsement. We select citizens and channels based on their relevance to the directives of our work and that of other government agencies and departments.


Links to Other Websites and Ads

Our social media platforms may share links or advertisements for websites not managed by us, solely for user convenience, including those not under the control of the Government of Saskatchewan that may appear in posts or comments submitted by citizens.

We are not responsible for the accuracy, or reliability of the content of any other website. We do not promote, acknowledge or administer these external Internet sites, and do not assure the accuracy and authenticity of the content published at these sites.
