There are many benefits for families who use regulated child care.
Regulated child care homes meet a standard of care set by the Government of Saskatchewan. These standards are outlined in The Child Care Act, 2014 and The Child Care Regulations, 2015 and are in place for facilities to provide quality care to children in a healthy and safe environment.
The Ministry of Education monitors regulated facilities so families can enjoy peace of mind knowing:
- their child is cared for in a safe and engaging environment;
- their child is being provided nutritious meals that meet Canada's Food Guide; and,
- facilities must meet and maintain safety standards.
Families with children under the age of six in regulated child care have reduced child care fees of $10 per day or $217.50 per month through funding provided by the Canada-Saskatchewan Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement.
Regulated child care homes and centres receive funding and support from the Ministry of Education for things like training, equipment and supplies that support children’s early childhood development and help set your child up for success.
The Ministry of Education supports regulated facilities to provide care to all children including those with diverse and exceptional needs. Additional funding may be available for regulated facilities to assist with additional costs associated with caring for these children.
Reliable and continuous care provides families the freedom to go to work or attend school, knowing their children are in good hands.
