Feeding Lambs for Profit Course - November 7–8, 2025

The Sheep Development Board and ministry specialists present a two-day feeding lambs for profit course at the Saskatoon Inn and Conference Center. This two-day event provides an opportunity for producers to learn about topics such as flock nutrition and fertility, the good and bad of feeding lambs on farms, determining your cost of production and more. This is a great opportunity for shepherds to enhance their knowledge and build connections with other shepherds in the industry.

Regional Round Up - November 21, 2025

Are you a producer located in Avonlea and surrounding areas? Come join the ministry specialists for an evening of learning, socializing and entertainment. This free event will take place at 5 p.m. on November 21, 2025, at the Avonlea Community Hall in Avonlea Sask. During the event, you will hear about programs offered by the ministry, take part in a livestock and crop break-out session where you can choose which presentation to attend. Supper will follow where guests can enjoy a tasty meal by Back Home Catering sponsored by Nelson Motors and Equipment. After supper, guests will get a crop market update from Matt Struthers, Ministry of Agriculture Cereal Crops Provincial Specialist and a livestock market update from Jodie Griffin, Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation WLPIP Research Analyst. Entertainment for the night will be provided by the Tornado Hunters, brought to you by Prudic Seeds.

Ranchers University - December 5–6, 2025

The ministry’s livestock and feed extension specialists are excited to bring the third annual Rancher’s University to Moose Jaw on December 5 and 6, 2025. This two-day event provides an opportunity for producers to network with and learn from their peers, extension specialists and industry experts. This year, we are excited to welcome Dr. Stephanie Hansen, of Iowa State University, who will cover fine-tuning beef herd mineral status including supplementation strategies, liver biopsies and selecting the right mineral package. Additional presentations will feature pest management in forages, replacement heifer selection with BoviGen, marketing strategies and order buying with JGL, as well as treatment technologies to address high sulfate water. These sessions will be delivered by industry experts and will be paired with several hands-on learning opportunities.

Southwest Livestock Watering Workshop - January 14, 2026

The Livestock Watering Strategies Workshop will provide valuable insights into efficient water management systems for livestock, with a focus on sustainable, year-round watering and rotational grazing. This workshop will offer practical solutions, expert advice and knowledge-sharing opportunities for agriculture producers. This event is in partnership with the Saskatchewan Association of Watersheds and will feature tradeshow booths highlighting water development infrastructure and program funding opportunities for livestock producers. The event will be held at the Hodgeville Community Centre in Hodgeville, Sask. from 12:30 to 5 p.m.

Celebrating Rural Ranching Women - February 5–6, 2026

Calling all rural ranching women in Maple Creek and surrounding areas! The ministry is excited to bring Celebrating Rural Ranching Women back to Maple Creek February 5–6. During the event, you will hear about specialist services, forage management and rejuvenation strategies. Attendees will have the opportunity to test and expand their plant ID skills, hear from experienced veterinarians and listen to the latest marketing advice. Not only will you get to listen and learn about important topics in the industry, but you will be able to network and make connections with other like-minded women.
