Donation and Transplant Services – Saskatchewan Health Authority

About Donation
There will always be demand for tissue and organs, as the need for life enhancing or life saving transplants outweigh the supply. At any given time in Canada there are more than 800 people waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant, and thousands waiting for a life enhancing tissue transplant.

Saskatchewan Donation Program
Learn more about the organ and tissue donation process in Saskatchewan and the teams that provide support.

Saskatchewan Transplant Program
The program facilitates pre and post-transplant care of organ recipients in Saskatchewan and donations by living donors of some organs and tissues (primarily kidneys, a portion of a liver, amniotic tissue and bone donated after receiving a hip transplant).

Out-of-Province Transplant
The Saskatchewan Transplant Program in Saskatoon helps people who need heart, liver, or lung transplants. The SHA performs early checkups and works with the Alberta transplant team to get patients ready for their transplant

Ocular and Tissue Donation
In Saskatchewan Ocular Donation is offered near or at end of life. It can be a part of the discussion you have with your family. Unlike organs which must be transplanted soon after retrieval, donated tissues can be safely stored until needed.

Living Kidney Donation
If you are considering becoming a living kidney donor, you can find more information at the link above or by contacting SHALivingDonation@saskhealthauthority.ca.
