In the fall of 2018, the Government of Saskatchewan completed a series of engagement sessions with representatives from the public library systems and stakeholders.
Terry Dennis, Legislative Secretary to the Minister of Education, was asked to develop a report for the minister based on these engagement sessions. Submitted to the Minister of Education in January 2019, this report highlights and summarizes eight common themes expressed in those discussions and submissions.
The Saskatchewan Ministry of Education conducted a survey to gather public feedback on the Report of Saskatchewan Public Libraries Engagement.
The purpose of the survey was to gather information about the themes expressed in the report, and whether the themes accurately reflect public opinion on public libraries in Saskatchewan. Over the next few months, the Ministry of Education, in collaboration with Saskatchewan Public Libraries, will use some of the key themes and responses from this feedback to develop a public library sector plan. The purpose of the library sector plan is to allow the library sector and the ministry to work together to determine priorities moving forward.
This study was conducted online in January 2019 and had more than 5,800 responses.
