GOVERNMENT WORKPLACE RECOGNIZED AS A TOP EMPLOYER IN SASKATCHEWAN

Released on February 6, 2013

The Government of Saskatchewan has been selected by a national selection panel as one of Saskatchewan’s Top Employers in 2013.

“I’m pleased and proud that the Government of Saskatchewan workplace has been recognized for providing employees with an excellent environment in which to build their careers,” Minister responsible for the Public Service Commission Nancy Heppner said.  “Working for our province is a rewarding experience, and we are committed to ensuring our employees feel welcome, respected and engaged.”

Saskatchewan’s Top Employers is one of several sub-category competitions held in conjunction with the annual Canada’s Top 100 Employers competition, organized by MediaCorp Canada Inc.  This award acknowledges Saskatchewan employers that are leaders in their industries in offering exceptional places to work.

Employers are compared to other organizations in their field using eight criteria: physical workplace; work atmosphere and social, health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skill development; and community involvement.  An academic advisory board consisting of experts in human resource management oversees the selection criteria for each year's competition.

The Government of Saskatchewan offers a wide range of exciting opportunities for meaningful, rewarding work and professional growth for employees.  Government ministries remain one of the most diverse employers in Saskatchewan with a large array of technical, professional, management and support positions across the province.
