GOVERNMENT OF SASKATCHEWAN DECLARES ARCHITECTURE WEEK

Released on November 14, 2011

Today, the Government of Saskatchewan announced November 13-19 as Architecture Week in the province.

"On behalf of the Government of Saskatchewan, I'm pleased to announce a week dedicated to recognizing the contributions the Saskatchewan Association of Architects (SAA) have made to the province," Government Services Minister Laura Ross said. "The association ensures the highest level of conduct for its members, along with professional standards, education, training and licensing."

The Saskatchewan Association of Architects began operating in 1911, and one year later the Saskatchewan Architect bill was passed. The Act provides for the examination and registration of all architects in the province and helps to protect the public from people misrepresenting the profession.

"I want to thank the Government of Saskatchewan for proclaiming Architecture Week in Saskatchewan," Saskatchewan Association of Architects President Jeff Jurzyniec said. "Our association is excited about celebrating 100 years of architecture and design in the province, and we're pleased the government has recognized the contribution of architects."

The SAA will host a number of events that will engage the public in architecture and design throughout the week to celebrate and recognize the contributions of its members. For a complete listing of events can be found at www.saskarchitects100.com.
