DRAUDE MEETS WITH IT INDUSTRY LEADERS IN SASKATOON

Released on February 24, 2010

Information Technology Office Minister June Draude will be discussing issues of importance to Saskatchewan's IT industry at a meeting today in Saskatoon with the top executives of some of the province's key private sector IT firms.

"Our information technology sector plays an important part in the economic and social growth agenda our government has laid out for Saskatchewan," Draude said. "It's essential that we hear first hand from the people who know best what is needed to ensure the continuing vitality and expansion of our IT sector."

In addition to industry-specific issues, Draude will seek input on how the private sector can help the government use technology to improve its program delivery to Saskatchewan citizens, businesses and other stakeholders.

"The government has formed a solid partnership with the IT sector and relies heavily on it to help deliver internal government IT services," Draude said. "However, with the rapid advances in technology we want to strengthen those relationships and take advantage of private innovation that will enable us to provide even better, more cost-effective citizen services.

"I'm excited to have the opportunity to listen to the ideas of our IT leaders and to convey the vision they have for their industry to my colleagues, as we work to build on Saskatchewan's economic momentum."
