Corrections, Public Safety and Policing Minister Darryl Hickie acknowledged the important profile being provided to The Saskatchewan Police College through the production of the documentary series, "A Few Good Men and Women" at the preview screening of the series on SCN in Regina last night.
The documentary film series, produced by local film company Zima Junction Productions' producer Robin Schlaht, features the 30 member class #56 of The Saskatchewan Police College who graduated in May, 2008. Segments of the film were screened at an event hosted by SCN.
"This depiction of the classroom and physical training provided by The Saskatchewan Police College to two classes of recruits each year will help create broader understanding of the commitment and skills required from police officers on the street," Hickie said.
"The documentary shows what is required to become a police officer," Association of Saskatchewan Chiefs of Police president Dale McFee said. "It focuses on the life at Police College, as this is where the basic training is received and is where every officer receives those skills required to set the foundation for their career in law enforcement."
The documentary series contains seven one-hour episodes, which are scheduled to air on SCN beginning Wednesday, January 21.
"The production of this documentary series is a good example of Saskatchewan's competitive and growing film and television industry," Minister responsible for SCN Christine Tell said. "Recent amendments to the Film Employment Tax Credit and our sophisticated blend of facilities, labour, technology and incentives enables the industry to thrive in our province and creates exciting career choices."
