Released on March 23, 2007
“In Tune Saskatchewan 2007” is a compilation CD that is putting the spotlight on some of the fresh new music that Saskatchewan is producing while raising awareness of the province’s vibrant music scene.
“The music industry in Saskatchewan contributes much to our economy, our cultural fabric and the incredible quality of life that we enjoy,” Culture, Youth and Recreation Minister Glenn Hagel said. “This promotional CD is a sampling of the rich and diverse musical talent that our province has to offer.”
“In Tune Saskatchewan 2007” was produced in partnership with SaskMusic. It features 19 Saskatchewan recording artists, each one donating their work to this project. The compilation CD is not available for sale, but will be used as a promotional tool at a variety of events across the province, including the upcoming Juno Awards in Saskatoon.
Saskatchewan musicians also have opportunity to raise their profile to audiences around the world by uploading songs to an online jukebox at www.saskatchewan.ca.
“SaskMusic is proud to be the official cheerleader of Saskatchewan music,” SaskMusic executive director Noreen Neu said. “We look forward to promoting our dynamic music scene to industry representatives, producers, venue operators, entertainment reporters and other artists as they visit our province to attend our many long running festivals and the exciting awards programs that Saskatchewan is hosting this year.”
The compilation CD is one of several initiatives underway to raise awareness of and to grow Saskatchewan’s music industry during 2007.
