PREMIER AND CABINET MEET TO DISCUSS FALL SITTING OF THE LEGISLATURE

Released on September 9, 2005

Premier Lorne Calvert today announced that the provincial cabinet will gather in Nipawin next week to discuss the upcoming fall sitting of the Saskatchewan legislature.

"This centennial year has afforded Saskatchewan people with so many positives," Premier Calvert said. "Now is the time to build on that momentum to ensure that our province moves forward with vigor and determination into the next century."

Calvert said items up for discussion will include looking at ways to expand opportunities for young people, ensuring that Saskatchewan residents continue to enjoy the lowest-cost bundle of basic utility services in Canada, making sure that people feel safe in their communities and next steps on current federal files.

Premier Calvert and members of his cabinet spent the summer listening to Saskatchewan people, including a two-week bus tour of northern areas and various centennial homecomings.

"In the coming weeks and months, my government will demonstrate to the people of Saskatchewan that we heard what they are saying and are prepared to act on their behalf," Calvert said.
