UPGRADING NORTH BATTLEFORD AND MEADOW LAKE SCHOOLS

The Government of Saskatchewan is investing approximately $354,000 to improve two schools in North Battleford and one in Meadow Lake.

"When we invest in capital projects for education, we are investing in our students and in the future of Saskatchewan," Learning Minister Andrew Thomson said. "These projects show our continued commitment to improving Saskatchewan schools."

The capital projects include:

·The Battlefords School Division will receive approximately $222,000 to provide sprinklers for North Battleford Comprehensive High School;

·The North West Roman Catholic School Division will receive approximately $41,000 for the recently replaced portion of the roof at John Paul II Collegiate in North Battleford; and

·The Meadow Lake School Division will receive approximately $91,000 to help fund the recently replaced section of the roof at Jonas Samson Junior High School in Meadow Lake.

These projects will be cost-shared with the school divisions listed above.

"Students and teachers need modern, well-equipped learning facilities in order to succeed," Government Relations Minister and The Battlefords MLA Len Taylor said. "These projects will go a long way in helping Meadow Lake and the Battlefords and area youth reach their potential."

These projects are part of the provincial government's investment of $6.2 million to improve 32 Saskatchewan schools. With these projects, the total commitment by government to K-12 capital projects this fiscal year is $26.6 million.

"These school improvement projects are part of the government's commitment to invest in modern, well-equipped learning facilities for Saskatchewan students," Thomson added.
