SASKATCHEWAN CENTENNIAL 2005 SALUTES BUSINESS

Released on May 10, 2005

Business owners and operators are at the heart of Saskatchewan's economy and they're also at the heart of many centennial celebrations province-wide. Saskatchewan Centennial 2005 is saluting Saskatchewan businesses with a special program that will help them display their centennial spirit and promote Saskatchewan pride.

Representatives of Saskatchewan Centennial 2005 and Tim Hortons officially launched the program, which includes a centennial logo for exclusive use by businesses and associations. Saskatchewan businesses will receive a window decal to display their pride in the province. They may also request complimentary promotional items including posters, tent cards, buttons and coasters. Businesses planning special centennial celebrations and events will have the opportunity to receive additional exposure online at www.sask2005.ca.

"Saskatchewan's businesses, large and small, have demonstrated their ability to dream big and work hard," Saskatchewan Centennial 2005 Chair and Moose Jaw North MLA Glenn Hagel said. "Their contributions have helped to make Saskatchewan the province that it is today. During our centennial year, we are proud to celebrate the past 100 years of business success and look forward to a bright and prosperous future."

Tim Hortons is one of many businesses throughout the province that was quick to catch the centennial spirit. Each Tim Hortons location across Saskatchewan will participate in special events and activities to promote the centennial to customers who visit one of its 23 locations.

"On behalf of Tim Hortons, we are very excited to be taking part in the centennial celebration in Saskatchewan," Tim Hortons store owner Peter DiStasi said. "As part of the community, we are proud to show our support of this province as it celebrates 100 years. Happy birthday, Saskatchewan!"

On July 1st, Tim Hortons will launch a special edition Saskatchewan centennial hot drink take-out and a specially designed lapel pin, both of which will be available at all Saskatchewan stores while supplies last. In addition, on September 4th, when the province officially celebrates its 100th birthday, Tim Hortons will provide regional centennial committees and their volunteers with free coffee and doughnuts.

"This is just one of many examples that Saskatchewan businesses are undertaking during the centennial year to involve their employees and customers in centennial celebrations," Hagel said. "We want as many people as possible to celebrate their centennial in a meaningful way and we are proud to salute Saskatchewan businesses who are playing a huge part in achieving that goal."
