100 YEARS OF HEART! SASKATCHEWAN POSTAGE STAMP UNVEILED

This year, Saskatchewan celebrates the 100th anniversary of its entry into Confederation. To mark this milestone, Canada Post today unveiled a commemorative 50-cent postage stamp at a special ceremony held during Regina's Buffalo Days celebration. Participating in the ceremony were Senator Robert Peterson, Lieutenant Governor Dr. Lynda Haverstock, Premier Lorne Calvert and Saskatchewan Centennial 2005 Chair and Moose Jaw North MLA Glenn Hagel.

"Canada's postage stamps celebrate the things that bring us together as a people," Regina Senator Robert Peterson said. "In creating this stamp, Canada Post is paying tribute to Saskatchewan's natural beauty, its agricultural and industrial accomplishments and the many communities that share a bond across this great province and this great country."

"Throughout our centennial year we are paying tribute to the people, the places and the legends that have built this province we're proud to call home," Saskatchewan Premier Lorne Calvert said. "With the help of Canada Post's souvenir stamp, our centennial will be commemorated and celebrated around the globe as we show the world it could use a little more Saskatchewan."

The stamp's designer, Catherine Bradbury was also on hand for the unveiling. Bradbury Branding & Design Inc. of Regina worked in close consultation with the Saskatchewan Centennial Committee to craft the stamp. "The dynamic image compresses in time and space three uniquely Saskatchewan vignettes, portraying this amazing land of hope and promise under a single great canopy of blue sky," Bradbury said.
