VOLUNTEER SERVICE RECOGNIZED IN TISDALE

A Tisdale man has been honoured for 15 years of volunteer service as a board member of the Tisdale Housing Authority.

John Thompson received a certificate of recognition and a commemorative pin recognizing his 15 years of volunteer service. Community Resources and Employment Minister Glenn Hagel, who appoints the province's housing authority volunteers was in Tisdale to extend congratulations.

"The province's network of 280 housing authorities depends on the selflessness and dedication of volunteers like John Thompson," Hagel said. "For an entire decade and a half, Mr. Thompson has helped make his province and his community and area a better place to live by his commitment to social housing."

Mr. Thompson continues to serve as chair of the Tisdale Housing Authority, and is one of more than 1,500 housing authority volunteers across Saskatchewan. The Tisdale Board manages more than 170 housing units in the community of Tisdale.

Housing authorities are community-based organizations that manage the province's social and affordable housing for seniors, families and persons with disabilities.
