SHOWCASING SASKATCHEWAN-MADE PRODUCTS
Released on May 15, 2002
Innovative Saskatchewan-made promotional products and corporate gift items
are being featured at a Saskatchewan Opportunities Week trade show in
Regina tomorrow.
The trade show brings together more than 60 manufacturers of unique
Saskatchewan-made items with nearly 700 potential buyers. These buyers
will include major corporations, advertising agencies, banks, hotels,
school districts, hospitals and other organizations that might have
occasion to buy promotional items or corporate gifts.
"By showing these buyers what is available from Saskatchewan companies and
encouraging them to buy locally, we are helping to support jobs for people
in our province," Industry and Resources Minister Eldon Lautermilch
said. "This is an excellent opportunity for Saskatchewan manufacturers to
gain broad exposure to a large number of potential clients."
The trade show will also feature a showcase of Saskatchewan-sewn products
made by members of the Apparel and Textile Association of Saskatchewan. On
display will be products ranging from clothing and occupational apparel and
supplies, to vehicle accessories and equipment covers.
A catalogue of the promotional products and corporate gifts on display at
the trade show will be compiled. It will be distributed to the buyers
invited to the show. As well, a buyers list will be produced and given to
the exhibitors.
"Our hope is that more companies will discover the many wonderful
Saskatchewan-made products that are available and realize that buying
locally just makes good business sense," Lautermilch said.
The trade show will be held at the Centre of the Arts in Regina on May
16th. It runs from 10:00 am to 11:30 am and from 1:30 pm to 6:00 pm. The
Saskatchewan Sewn Showcase and Luncheon will run from 12:15 pm to 1:00 pm.
