'ONE-STOP' SHOP FOR MOOSE JAW BUSINESS

Released on May 14, 2002

It became a little easier to start or expand a business in Moose Jaw today,

with the grand opening of the Moose Jaw and District Business Resource

Centre.

Social Services Minister Glenn Hagel, on behalf of Industry and Resources

Minister Eldon Lautermilch, helped open the new centre, which brings

together local, regional, provincial, and federal business service

organizations under one roof. The centre will provide a wide range of

business development services to Moose Jaw area businesses and co-

operatives, enabling them to start or expand their enterprises and create

more jobs for local residents.

"Individually, each of these agencies is a valuable tool for business

people - together they create synergies and the opportunity for

partnerships that will ensure that business people get better service,

enabling improved economic development and job creation for people in the

Moose Jaw area," Hagel said.

Partners in the centre are: the Moose Jaw and District Chamber of Commerce,

the Moose Jaw Regional Economic Development Authority, the regional office

of Saskatchewan Industry and Resources, and the South Central Community

Futures Development Corporation.

By putting business services under one roof, the centre's tenants will be

able to improve efficiency in the development and delivery of business

services to Moose Jaw and the surrounding area. The centre will provide

such services as: strategic planning, marketing and promotion, access to

government information and services, counselling, and business name

registration.

The opening was held in conjunction with Saskatchewan Opportunities Week -

a celebration of economic successes and business opportunities in

Saskatchewan.
