\"LISTENING TOUR\" CONTINUES

Released on July 15, 2002

Premier Lorne Calvert is about to embark on his second summer "Listening

Tour" of Saskatchewan. The "Dialogue with Saskatchewan" leaves from the

Legislature on Thursday, July 18th.

Over the next three weeks the tour will take the premier and other

government members to more than 60 rural and First Nations communities.

"It is a valuable experience to hear from people in their own communities

and their own businesses," Calvert said. "This year's tour will give our

government an opportunity to listen to even more Saskatchewan people about

their ideas and suggestions on issues ranging from agriculture and health

care to transportation."

During the first week the tour will swing through the province's Southwest,

visiting several communities, including Moose Jaw, Morse, Herbert, Swift

Current, Gull Lake, Maple Creek, Tompkins, Gravelbourg and Mortlach. The

premier will participate in a range of activities and celebrations. Among

those, the Gravelbourg Grand Prix Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, July 20th

and the Mortlach Old Time Fiddlers Jamboree later the same day.

The premier will be joined in the first week by Deputy Premier Clay Serby,

Industry and Resources Minister Eldon Lautermilch, Social Services Minister

Glenn Hagel, Highways Minister Mark Wartman and Learning Minister Jim

Melenchuk. Government MLAs Ron Harper, David Forbes, Carolyn Jones and

Warren McCall will also join the tour during its first week. In some areas

the premier and government members will split up in order to visit more

communities.

The "Listening Tour" will visit communities in the province's Northwest in

Week 2 (July 25th- July 27th), and then travel through the Northeast during

Week 3 (August 7th- August 10th).
