ALBERTA COMPANY EXPANDS IN SASKATCHEWAN

Released on September 19, 2001

Just over a year after setting up shop in Saskatchewan, Alberta Garment

Manufacturing (AGM Wear) is expanding.

AGM has announced the relocation of its cutting facilities, plus inventory

and distribution centre to Saskatoon from Calgary. The company also plans

to grow its Saskatoon operations, and announced a work-training program

that plans to create 50 new jobs.

"AGM's expansion is good news for Saskatoon and Saskatchewan," Economic and

Co-operative Development Minister Eldon Lautermilch said. "AGM has quickly

positioned itself as one of the major companies in Saskatchewan's growing

and thriving apparel and textile industry."

AGM is an expansion plant of Calgary-based Alberta Garment Manufacturing

Co. Ltd. It produces restaurant uniforms, work wear and corporate uniforms

as well as private label business and casual wear. Among its Canadian

clientele are Mark's Work Warehouse, Work World, Air Canada, Canada

Safeway, Canadian Pacific Railway and Westfair Foods.

AGM's focus will be on hi-visibility products such as reflective safety

work wear used by construction companies, railways, utility corporations,

fire and police departments. The garments include coveralls, vests, t-

shirts and parkas. These products will provide the growth for the

Saskatoon operations.

"Our move into Saskatchewan has been a positive one," AGM President Uwe

Schiffke said. "And we are looking forward to better serving our customers

from our expanded base here in Saskatoon."

AGM began operating in Saskatoon in February, 2000. As part of its

expansion plans, AGM will host a job fair for prospective employees. It

will be held on Friday, September 21st, 2001 at 10:00 am at the Quality

Hotel in Saskatoon.
