NRSTA BOARD APPOINTMENTS

One new member has been appointed to the Northern Revenue Sharing Trust

Account (NRSTA) Management Board and four current members were re-appointed.



The new board member is Brian Chaboyer, alderman, Cumberland House. He

joins returning members:



Doug Gailey, administrator, La Loche; (re-appointed)

Gordon Stomp, Mayor, Air Ronge; (re-appointed)

Rita Maurice, clerk, Michel Village; (re-appointed)

Beverly Wheeler, administrator, Denare Beach; (re-appointed)

Cecile Caisse, Mayor, Pinehouse;

Terri Daniels, Chairperson, Northern Settlement of Wollaston Lake;

and

Bobby Woods, Mayor, Buffalo Narrows.



The NRSTA is funded by northern municipal property taxes, lease fees, sales

proceeds and the provincial general revenue fund. It currently provides

three types of grants to northern municipalities: operating, capital, water

and sewer. It also provides loans for the northern residential subdivision

development program.



The Management Board makes recommendations to the Minister of Municipal

Affairs and Housing regarding the creation of new programs, the allocation

of northern revenue sharing grants and northern capital grants, and on

changes to The Northern Municipalities Act, or regulations relating to the

NRSTA.
