SASK WATER REDUCES RENTAL RATES

Released on May 16, 2001

Sask Water is reducing its pumping equipment rental rates for farmers

needing to pump water to fill dugouts and other small reservoirs.

Rental rates for equipment required to pump distances greater than one mile

will be reduced by 50 per cent. This new rate will be retroactive to Jan.

1, 2001 and be maintained until the end of the year.

Many farmers access the pumping equipment every year to help move water

from other sources to fill local supplies for domestic and livestock use.

"We're already noticing an increase in requests for long-distance pumping

equipment this year," Minister responsible for Sask Water Ron Osika said.

"This will especially help farmers, ranchers and others in the driest areas

of the province."

Sask Water has various equipment available under its water pumping

equipment rental program, including power takeoff pumps, aluminum pipe (in

nine metre lengths) and pipe trailers. Equipment is rented on a first-

come, first-served basis.

General inquiries and requests for assistance can be directed to Sask Water

offices in Weyburn, Yorkton, Nipawin, North Battleford, Swift Current and

Moose Jaw.
