A tender has been awarded for resurfacing 11.5 km of Highway 15 near
Goodeve this construction season.
"Work on this $1.3 million resurfacing project is anticipated to begin in
August of 2001 and should be completed by October," Highways and
Transportation Minister Pat Atkinson said. "Completion of this job will
require an estimated 39 full-time workers."
The 11.5 km resurfacing project on Highway 15 will begin east of Fenwood
and will continue east of Goodeve.
Langenburg Redi-Mix Ltd. was awarded this project.
This resurfacing project was identified in the 2000/2001 Winter Tender
Schedule for Saskatchewan highway work, worth an estimated $90 million.
"As with many highways across the province, Highway 15 is experiencing a
sharp increase in truck traffic, which causes road deterioration," Atkinson
said. "Maintaining Highway 15 in good driving condition is important for
the economy in this region."
"Saskatchewan Highways and Transportation is working hard to fix roads
across the province to improve driver safety."
