An inquest into the death of Lloyd Joseph Dustyhorn will take place May
8th, 9th and 10th at 9:30 am at the Court of Queens Bench, 520 Spadina
Crescent East, Saskatoon.
The 53 year old died in the early morning hours of January 19th, 2000. He
was taken in by Saskatoon Police for public intoxication on the evening of
January 18th, 2000. Dustyhorn was kept under observation in cells until
the early morning of January 19th, when he was released and transported
home by Saskatoon City Police.
The inquest was ordered by the Attorney General on February 2nd, 2001.
Inquests are open to the public. Evidence is given before a six-person
jury summoned at random. In addition to establishing when and where the
death occurred and the medical cause of the death, the coroner's jury may
make recommendations to prevent similar deaths in the future.
The presiding coroner will be Mr. Hugh M. Harradence, Q.C. of Prince
Albert.
