Residents of Davidson and area have a brand new health centre. Midwest
District Health and representatives from local towns, villages and rural
municipalities celebrated the official opening of the Davidson and District
Health Centre today.
The health centre replaces the old Davidson Hospital and consolidates
community services under one roof. The new facility includes long-term
care, acute care, emergency and diagnostic services, observation, respite,
convalescent and palliative care. Home Care and Community Health services
are also part of the new health centre.
The new centre reflects government's commitment to work with partners in
the health sector to provide accessible and affordable, quality health care
services to the people of Saskatchewan, according to Health Minister John
Nilson.
"Individuals and families in Davidson and the surrounding communities will
benefit from a new health centre with access to inpatient services and
community programs all in one location," Nilson said, speaking at today's
grand opening.
"The new health centre came out of a lot of hard work and planning,"
Midwest District Health CEO Doug Ball said. "The facility and the services
offered here were developed with the needs of local residents in mind."
The total project cost of $3.1 million includes a provincial contribution
of $1.7 million and a local share of $1.4 million.
