Voters in the constituency of Regina Elphinstone will go to the polls February
26 in a by-election, Premier Roy Romanow announced today.
"Our government ensures no constituency goes unrepresented longer than six
months," Romanow said. "This by-election will mean the people in Regina
Elphinstone will have a new MLA for the spring sitting of the legislature."
The government passed legislation in 1992 to ensure no seat remains vacant
longer than six months.
The new MLA for Regina Elphinstone will replace Dwain Lingenfelter who resigned
on August 31, 2000.
