$30 MILLION CONTRACT FOR REGINA COMPANY

Released on December 14, 2001

Partner Technologies Incorporated (PTI) of Regina has signed a new contract

to supply transformers to SaskPower. The five-year contract is worth up to

$30 million.

"For many years, PTI has proven to be an excellent supplier of transformers

and transformer maintenance for SaskPower's urban, rural and oilfield

needs," Economic and Co-operative Development Minister Eldon Lautermilch

said, on behalf of Crown Investments Corporation Minister Maynard Sonntag.

"Through support from SaskPower for a local supplier, PTI has become an

important contributor to the provincial economy - and thanks to today's

contract, this contribution will continue for years to come. PTI will

fulfill the majority of the corporation's needs for residential and

oilfield transformers from Jan. 2002 to Dec. 2006.

Partner Technologies Incorporated President Caron Hopfner said the signing

of the supply contract is another example of the successful working

relationship between SaskPower and PTI, and is good news for the future of

the plant in Regina. "This contract will give us the solid footing from

which we can continue to grow and diversify our customer base. We have our

sights set on expanding our customer base in the U.S., where there is a

huge market for 72kV transformers in the small to medium sized power

range. We are ideally suited to serve this market from Regina."

PTI is a Regina-based company that started business in 1989 repairing

electrical apparatus, including transformers, for SaskPower. Since then,

the company has grown to manufacture liquid filled distribution and small

and medium size power transformers. It also has a dedicated repair

department that maintains and repairs transformers and other distribution

system equipment. PTI has annual sales of over $12 million and more than

70 employees.

As a result of the security and work provided via contracts with SaskPower

over the years, Partner Technologies Incorporated has been able to expand

operations to construct transformers for companies and utilities in

Manitoba, BC, Alberta, Quebec, the USA, the Caribbean, South America,

Russia and Africa.

PTI has manufactured transformers for SaskPower since 1991. The company is

currently supplying SaskPower with transformers as part of a three-year

contract that will expire at the end of 2001. Partner Technologies

received a Power of Business Award from SaskPower in April, 1999 for this

long-standing supplier relationship.
