LLOYDMINSTER PARENTS REWARDED FOR SAFETY

Released on December 10, 2001

Alan and Charmaine Roberts' commitment to their children's safety compelled

them to visit an SGI child restraint clinic this summer. Today they were

rewarded for their effort.

Crown Investments Corporation Minister Maynard Sonntag and former Director

of the Insurance Brokers' Association of Saskatchewan (IBAS) Brian Beaton

presented the Roberts family with a $1,000 travel voucher for a getaway to

Greenwater Provincial Park. The voucher was one of four prizes given out

as part of SGI's annual child restraint campaign contest.

"Children are Saskatchewan's most precious resource, and it's important to

keep them safe," Sonntag said. "I commend the Roberts family for taking

the time to visit the child restraint clinic to ensure their children, Ryan

and Megan, were travelling safely."

The Roberts attended a child restraint clinic in Lloydminster. While

learning how to properly adjust their children's child seats, they entered

the random draw for one of four, $1,000 travel vouchers provided courtesy

of IBAS.

"We are happy to sponsor the child restraint campaign contest," Insurance

Brokers' Association of Saskatchewan former Director Brian Beaton said.

"Installing a child restraint can be a complicated process, so it's great

to see so many parents and caregivers learning how to do it correctly."

The child restraint campaign has been very successful. In 2001 alone,

there were 120 child restraint clinics in 96 different communities across

the province.

Statistics show half of Saskatchewan children age eight and under are not

properly restrained while travelling in vehicles.
