IMPROVEMENTS TO HIGHWAY 4 NEAR CADILLAC

Released on August 20, 2001

Construction of a surfacing structure with a double seal coat has begun on

a 21.54 km section of Highway 4 north of Cadillac.

"Work on this $2.9 million project began August 1st and should be completed

by the end of September," Highways and Transportation Minister Pat Atkinson

said. "This project will create around 66 full-time jobs."

The Highway No. 4 project is taking place just south of the junction with

Highway 13 at Cadillac, to 21 km north of the junction with Highway 13.

"Highway 4 near Cadillac is a major north/south corridor that is

experiencing an increase in heavy truck traffic," Atkinson said. "It's

important to keep this highway in safe driving condition."

W.F. Botkin Construction Limited was awarded this resurfacing project.

Saskatchewan Highways and Transportation's budget this year is a record

$311.7 million, which will help to improve the major highway system that

carries 65 per cent of provincial traffic.
