\"LISTENING TOUR\" VISITS WYNYARD

Released on August 17, 2001

Premier Lorne Calvert's Dialogue with Saskatchewan tour will be visiting

Wynyard on Thursday, August 23rd. The premier will be joined in this area

by 15 members of his cabinet and caucus when his 'listening tour' visits.

The group will participate in a working breakfast with local officials

before visiting businesses on main street and then stopping for coffee at

the Pepper Tree Restaurant at 10:15 AM.

"The tour includes a number of official meetings, and they are important

because they'll help us learn about local issues and learn about local

opportunities," Calvert said. "But I'm also looking forward to the

unofficial meetings with people on main street and in the coffee shops.

That's where we'll hear the voices of Saskatchewan."

Premier Calvert is in the third week of his tour of more than 70

communities in rural Saskatchewan. The tour has been dubbed Dialogue with

Saskatchewan and the premier promises it's not just a symbolic gesture.

"When I became premier I promised I would lead an open and accessible

government that listens and responds," he said. "I look forward to working

throughout the year with the communities and community leaders of this

province as we work together to build Saskatchewan's future."
