CELLULAR SERVICE FOR CANDLE LAKE

Released on August 9, 2001

Residents and summer vacationers in Candle Lake now have the power of

digital cellular service in their area as part of SaskTel Mobility's

digital cellular expansion.

"Candle Lake is a vibrant, popular Saskatchewan vacation destination and

cellular service will only add to the attraction of the area," Premier

Lorne Calvert said. "This announcement - and future SaskTel Mobility

cellular expansion announcements later this summer - are good examples of

our government and Crown corporations working to ensure rural Saskatchewan

receives valuable services such as wireless communication that are on par

with any service offered around the world."

"SaskTel Mobility is following through on its commitment to enhance the

company's cellular network across Saskatchewan, and we look forward to

future expansion announcements," SaskTel Senior Vice-President, Customer

Services, Operations and Mobility Diana Milenkovic said. "When this

upgrade project is complete in 2003, we will have invested more than $54-

million into our digital cellular network, and will offer digital cellular

service to roughly 95 per cent of Saskatchewan's population."

"SaskTel continues to provide service in many communities where its

competitors choose not to go, demonstrating once again its primary focus of

serving Saskatchewan people first," Premier Calvert said.

There are several advantages of digital cellular service over analog

cellular, including improved call clarity, privacy, longer battery life and

the ability to access real-time information such as weather, news and

financial through Notifi Text Messaging. SaskTel Mobility's mobile browser

allows customers to send and receive E-mail and browse the Internet over a

digital, web-enabled cellular phone. This expansion also allows for future

high-speed wireless data applications.

SaskTel Mobility is Saskatchewan's complete wireless solutions provider,

offering digital and analog cellular, wireless data and Internet, FleetNet

800 and satellite. It is a division of SaskTel, the leading full-service

communications company in Saskatchewan, offering complete wireline,

wireless, Internet and e-business solutions over a state-of-the-art,

digital network. The web site for SaskTel Mobility is

www.sasktelmobility.com.
