CALL CENTRE AGREEMENT RENEWED

Released on August 7, 2001

The Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technology (SIIT) Call Centre will

continue to market SaskTel products and services to First Nations and Métis

customers in Saskatchewan for another five years.

Premier Lorne Calvert announced the new five-year agreement today in

Saskatoon.

"This partnership has been rewarding for both SIIT and SaskTel and the

successful results to date are something all Saskatchewan residents can be

proud of," Calvert said. "These highly-skilled call centre representatives

are strengthening the relationships between First Nations and Métis people

and SaskTel. It's another example of our government's efforts to increase

Aboriginal participation in Saskatchewan's workforce and contribute to our

Partnership for Prosperity strategy."

Since 1996, SIIT call centre representatives have been providing SaskTel's

communications solutions to about 8,000 First Nations and Métis people in

Saskatchewan. These representatives work together with customers in the

Aboriginal language of their choice, such as Cree, Dene, Saulteaux and

English. The eight call centre representatives are based in Saskatoon.

"We're very pleased with the results to date and it's been a tremendous

learning experience," Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technology

President Joan Greyeyes said. "Our employees have gained valuable new

skills in the areas of telecommunications, sales and customer service."

SaskTel is the leading full-service communications company in Saskatchewan,

offering complete wireline, wireless, Internet and e-business solutions

over a state-of-the-art digital network. SaskTel maintains investments in

companies that provide a variety of products and services around the
