A Melfort business is being honoured by SaskPower for providing superior

products and service.

GP Fibreglass Ltd. has been chosen to receive the SaskPower Power of Business

award. The award was introduced last year to recognize the important role

local firms play in the corporation's success and the Saskatchewan economy.

Crown Investments Corporation Minister John Nilson presented the award to GP

Fibreglass Ltd owner and president Gregg Phillips at the company's headquarters

in Melfort today.

"SaskPower makes every effort to support local Saskatchewan businesses," Nilson

said. "Over the last 13 years, GP Fibreglass has provided SaskPower with an

excellent product at an excellent price."

Located 14 km outside of Melfort, GP Fibreglass Ltd. opened its doors in 1983

and manufactures a diverse range of fibreglass products. Since 1987, the

company has supplied SaskPower with over 28,000 fibreglass box pads used to set

transformers on, as well as more than 5,000 aerial warning markers.

"When SaskPower supports local business we all benefit," Phillips said. "Their

support contributes to our company's success and to the local economy. We want

to thank them for recognizing the ability of local suppliers to provide

excellent products and services at competitive prices."

SaskPower averages over 80 per cent of its purchases from local firms and over

the last 15 years has purchased over $3.2 billion in goods and services from

Saskatchewan suppliers.

GP Fibreglass Ltd. employs 10 full time people at its shop just outside of

Melfort and utilizes the latest in computerized manufacturing equipment.
