More than 7000 high school students across Saskatchewan will go to work today
for Take Our Kids to Work Day.
Take Our Kids to Work is like 'show and tell' for adults. Grade nine students
accompany a parent, friend or mentor to work to develop an understanding of the
world of work and career opportunities in Saskatchewan.
"The learning objectives of Take Our Kids to Work Day support those in
Saskatchewan's curriculum," Education Minister Jim Melenchuk said. "Not only
do students get the chance to learn about careers in Saskatchewan, they also
get to learn important work-place skills like how to apply for a job, how to
take direction and how to interact with co-workers.
"The government is pleased to support this Canada-wide initiative that helps
students plan their career path."
The Learning Partnership, a national organization supporting school and
business partnerships, initiated Take Our Kids to Work Day in 1993.
