IMPROVEMENTS TO SIAST PALLISER CAMPUS
Released on May 12, 2000
Moose Jaw's SIAST Palliser Campus is getting a major upgrade. It's a $1.7
million renovation that will provide improved facilities for students in three
programs.
The Basic Education program will be moved from the Alexander Centre to the main
campus. SIAST is also building a new lab for the Water/Wastewater Technology
program and is upgrading space for the Architectural Engineering Technology
program.
"We are building for the future and this project will help our students prepare
for a knowledge-based world and a global economy," Post-Secondary Education and
Skills Training Minister Glenn Hagel said. "We are building on strength, as
recommended in the recent SIAST Review, so that SIAST Palliser Campus will
provide a positive learning environment to respond to changing needs of
individuals, communities and employers."
"The infusion of capital funds for high demand/high employment programs at
Palliser Campus will be a win-win situation for our students, the Moose Jaw
community and employers throughout the province," SIAST President Dr. Art
Knight said. "Equally important is the relocation of the Basic Education
program from the Alexander Centre to the main facility at Palliser Campus. The
use of resources will be optimized with the renovations and will encourage
communication and collaboration throughout the campus."
When the work is complete, all of SIAST Palliser's programs will be located in
the main campus. This more effective and efficient learning facility will
better serve students, partners and the community.
