The provincial government is investing $385,000 on improvements at schools in
Fort Qu'appelle and Indian Head.
They'll use the money to improve the heating and ventilation systems at the
Indian Head Elementary School and build two new portable classrooms at Bert Fox
High School in Fort Qu'appelle.
"Our government is investing in improved learning environments for our students
with a 20 per cent increase in capital funding over last year," Education
Minister Jim Melenchuk said. "This includes an additional $5 million from the
Centenary Fund. Approximately 115 school construction, renovation or upgrading
projects will be funded this year for a total of $29.2 million.
"We are committed to working with school divisions to ensure students have
comfortable and well-equipped learning facilities."
In the first release of project approvals, Saskatchewan Education has approved
55 projects. The remaining projects will be approved and allocated to school
divisions throughout the fiscal year.
