BUSINESS ADVICE FOR CANORA

Released on October 25, 1999

Canora-area entrepreneurs and small business owners now have improved access to

business advice and support.

The new Business Resource Centre was officially opened today as part of Small

Business Week celebrations. It's a partnership between the Good Spirit

Regional Economic Development Authority (REDA) and the town of Canora.

"The Canora Business Resource Centre provides valuable, convenient services to

small businesses and entrepreneurs," Economic and Co-operative Development

Minister Janice MacKinnon said. These entrepreneurs want to focus on creating

economic opportunities with improved access to the information they need to

improve their businesses."

"The Business Resource Centre fills a need in our community," Canora Mayor Paul

Ortynsky said. "We expect a building boom in the spring; the new golf course

will be opened and with our new water supply, we have had inquiries from

entrepreneurs interested in establishing businesses in our area."

Paul LaClaire, Chair of the Good Spirit Regional Economic Development Authority

is pleased REDA will be able to serve its members better now that there are two

business resource centres: one in Yorkton and one in Canora.

A full-time Economic Development Officer from Canora works in the resource

centre.

An employee from the Yorkton Business Resource Centre will visit the centre on

a weekly basis. The Good Spirit REDA will supply the centre with library

materials, a computer linked to the Yorkton Business Resource Centre and an

internet hook-up.
