CASINO FUNDS SUPPORT CHILDREN AND YOUTH PROGRAMS IN MELFORT, TISDALE, ZENON PARK AND KINISTINO

Municipal Affairs, Culture and Housing Minister Carol Teichrob
announced today that four communities have received $10,500 in casino
profits through the Associated Entities Fund.
"The province established the Associated Entities Fund to distribute a
portion of casino profits for the benefit of Saskatchewan people,"
Teichrob said. "Since the beginning of 1997 more than $4.5 million in
casino profits have been distributed throughout Saskatchewan for
programs that support children, youth and families."
The Kinistino and District Library, in partnership with the Town of
Kinistino and the Kinistino Ministerial Association, received $2,000
toward the Kinistino Summer Cultural Camp and Youth Group program.
This program is designed to provide Kinistino and area youth with
organized learning and recreation activities such as cultural crafts,
drawing, painting and literacy programs.
The North East Recreational and Parks Association and the Sylvania
Recreation Board received $2,900 toward the Mobile Play Program which
will provide staff, equipment, supplies, storytelling, environmental
and cross cultural events to area communities.
The Tisdale Lions Club, Tisdale Parks and Recreation Assocation
and Town of Tisdale received $1,600 toward the Summer Play
Program which provides children, ages five - 10, with
opportunities to participate in a variety of activities in a safe
and secure environment.
The Zenon Park Economic Development Committee and the La
Ponponniere Co-operative Daycare received $2,000 toward a summer
program for school aged youth which provides opportunities for
them to participate in supervised social and educational
programming including crafts, games, sports, theatre and a
reading program.
The North Central Health District, the Northeast Regional
Association for Community Living, and the Saskatchewan Cerebral
Palsy Association received $2,000 to support special needs
children and youth in Melfort and area. This program is designed
to provide an opportunity for participation in recreational,
social and leisure activities.
The Associated Entities Fund receives a portion of the profits
from Casino Regina, the Gold Eagle Casino in North Battleford,
the Northern Lights Casino in Prince Albert and the Painted Hand
Casino in Yorkton.
