CASINO FUNDS SUPPORT CHILDREN, YOUTH, AND FAMILY PROGRAMS IN PORCUPINE PLAIN, ARCHERWILL AND ROSE VALLEY

Municipal Affairs, Culture and Housing Minister Carol Teichrob

announced today that community groups in Porcupine Plain, Archerwill

and Rose Valley have received $5,300 in casino profits through the

Associated Entities Fund.



"The province established the Associated Entities Fund to distribute a

portion of casino profits for the benefit of Saskatchewan people,"

Teichrob said. "Since the beginning of 1997 more than $4.5 million in

casino profits have been distributed throughout Saskatchewan for

programs that support children, youth and families."



The North East Regional Association for Community Living in

partnership with the Porcupine Opportunities Program received $2,000

toward a summer camp for children with disabilities, their parents and

siblings.



The Eastern Region II of the Metis Nation of Saskatchewan, received

$2,000 toward Youth Culture Camp 1999. This five-day summer camp will

provide opportunities for up to 100 aboriginal youth to participate in

recreational, cultural, and social activities.



The Rose Valley Recreation Board in partnership with the

Kinsmen/Kinettes and the RCMP received $1,300 toward a summer program

offering children from kindergarten to grade seven with recreation

opportunities in a safe and structured environment.



The Associated Entities Fund receives a portion of the profits

from Casino Regina, the Gold Eagle Casino in North Battleford,

the Northern Lights Casino in Prince Albert and the Painted Hand

Casino in Yorkton.
