CASINO FUNDS SUPPORT PROGRAMMING FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH CARROT RIVER, WHITE FOX AND NIPAWIN

Andy Renaud, MLA for Carrot River Valley, today announced on behalf of
Municipal Government Minister Carol Teichrob that community groups in
Carrot River and White Fox received $7,460 in casino profits through
the Associated Entities Fund.
"The province established the Associated Entities Fund to distribute a
portion of casino profits for the benefit of Saskatchewan people,"
Renaud said. "Since the beginning of 1997 more than $4.5 million in
casino profits have been distributed throughout Saskatchewan for
programs that support children, youth and families."
The Town of Carrot River and the Carrot River Lions Club received
$2,000 towards the Summer Active Youth project. Through recreation
activities, preteens and teenagers will have an opportunity to have
fun while learning about personal growth and well-being and healthy,
active lifestyles.
The White Fox Library and the Village of White Fox received $1,460 to
provide a Story and Craft Program for children aged four through 12.
Through crafts, games and field trips, children will develop social
and reading skills.
The Town of Nipawin received $2,000 toward the Nipawin Summer
Recreation Program which provides six weeks of play activity for
children and youth aged five to 12. The participants will be
provided with safe and creative summer activities which will
develop social and physical skills.
The North East Aboriginal Organization Inc. received $2,000 for a
program that promotes Metis role models while integrating
literature and dance. The program is designed to enhance
cross-cultural awareness as well as the self-esteem and literacy
skills of the participants.
Associated Entities Fund receives a portion of the profits from
Casino Regina, the Gold Eagle Casino in North Battleford, the
Northern Lights Casino in Prince Albert and the Painted Hand
Casino in Yorkton.
