SPMC SIGNS BUSINESS EDUCATION PARTNERSHIP WITH ST. MARGUERITE BOURGEOYS SCHOOL

Released on March 31, 1999

Doreen Hamilton, minister responsible for Saskatchewan Property

Management Corporation (SPMC) and Mary Reeves, Instructional

Superintendent for the Regina Catholic School Division, today

announced the signing of a joint Business and Education Partnership

between SPMC and St. Marguerite Bourgeoys School in Regina.

"Educational partnerships play an important role by providing unique

opportunities for a school and a business to learn more about each

other," Hamilton said. "SPMC will be able to offer staff expertise,

career development and mentoring, as well as facility tours, while in

turn being able to co-operate in community projects with the

students."

Hamilton said an example of this partnership will be the historical

research and input students at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys School will

provide to the Saskatchewan Legislative Building Rehabilitation

Website, a website which has been recommended for use by Saskatchewan

Education for grades 4, 8 and 10.

"I think this partnership is beneficial to the students both from a

practical perspective with the current legislative building project

and from a career development perspective because of the wide range of

services and careers offered through SPMC," said Mary Reeves. "I know

St. Marguerite Bourgeoys School will be a great match for SPMC."

"St. Marguerite staff and students are extremely pleased in

formulating a new educational partnership with SPMC," said Joan

Mrazek, Principal at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys School. "We are

looking forward to a rich and rewarding partnership that will be

a benefit to all."

Saskatchewan Property Management Corporation is a Crown

corporation that provides public works, real estate management

and other central service functions for government.

St. Marguerite Bourgeoys is a catholic elementary kindergarten to

grade 8 school in Regina with an enrolment of 625 students.
