Released on March 22, 1999
Deputy Premier and Crown Investments Corporation Minister Dwain
Lingenfelter and Ron McKetsy, chairman of the Saskatchewan Science
Centre's Board of Directors, today unveiled the latest attraction to
the centre the new SaskTel 3D Laser Theatre. This laser theatre is
only the tenth of its kind in the world.
"Over the past decade, the Saskatchewan Science Centre has evolved
into one of Saskatchewan's most popular year-round learning centres
and tourist attractions, and the new SaskTel 3D Laser Theatre will add
to the centre's exceptional reputation," Lingenfelter said.
"The laser theatre brings a new dimension to the learning experience
and adventure at the science centre," McKetsy said. "The addition of
the SaskTel 3D Laser Theatre comes as we are celebrating the 10th
anniversary of the Saskatchewan Science Centre. This attraction will
add a whole new dimension to our mandate of educating and entertaining
our visitors."
The laser theatre will take the viewer on a learning adventure through
films on the human body and the living sea. The first film to be
shown is The Illuminated Brain.
"Like the science centre, SaskTel is committed to providing
leading-edge technology and outstanding service to their
customers," Lingenfelter said. "This unique 3D Laser Theatre is
the latest example of that commitment and SaskTel is proud to be
a part of what will truly be a wonderful learning experience for
all visitors."
