Released on January 4, 1999
Larry Ward, MLA for Estevan, today announced on behalf of Municipal
Affairs, Culture and Housing Minister Carol Teichrob, that the Estevan
Child Action Committee received $27,000 from casino profits through
the Associated Entities Fund.
"The province established the Associated Entities Fund to distribute a
portion of casino profits for the benefit of Saskatchewan people,"
Ward said. "Since the beginning of 1997 more than $3 million in
casino profits have been distributed throughout Saskatchewan for
programs that support children, youth and families."
Estevan school divisions formed the Child Action Committe to work
together to provide counselling services for children and their
families. The Family School Counselling Project will assist children
who are experiencing behavioural difficulties at home and in school.
Associated Entities Fund receives a portion of the profits from Casino
Regina, the Gold Eagle Casino, North Battleford, the Northern Lights
Casino, Prince Albert and the Painted Hand Casino, Yorkton.
