REDVERS TO PLAN NURSING HOME ADDITION

Released on August 16, 1999

The Moose Mountain Health District is one step closer today to replacing the

Centennial Haven Nursing Home in Redvers.

The proposed project would involve replacing the existing home with a new

addition to the Redvers Hospital. This would consolidate the delivery of acute

and long term care.

Health Minister Pat Atkinson gave the district approval to plan the project in

the 1999-2000 fiscal year and advised district representatives to work with

Saskatchewan Health officials to define the project's final scope and cost.

"Planning is an essential step in the development of any large-scale project,"

Atkinson said. "This approval for planning is our commitment to work with the

district to improve co-ordination of health services."

Province-wide, Saskatchewan Health will spend $37.8 million on capital projects

this year. The province pays 65 per cent of approved project costs, which are

determined as plans are finalized.
