SASKPOWER & PARTNER TECHNOLOGIES CELEBRATE NEW FACILITY

Released on April 30, 1999

Deputy Premier and Crown Investments Corporation Minister

Dwain Lingenfelter today joined SaskPower President and Chief

Executive Officer, John Wright, to celebrate the opening of the new

Partner Technologies Inc. facility in Regina.

"Partner Technologies has supplied transformers to SaskPower for the

better part of its 10-year history," Lingenfelter said. "As the

minister responsible for Crown Investments Corporation, I am proud of

SaskPower's role in helping this company grow from a small start-up to

a firm that now serves electrical utilities around the world.

"SaskPower's long term relationship with PTI is just one example of

the corporation's commitment to supporting Saskatchewan companies. In

fact, SaskPower averages over 80 per cent of its purchases from local

firms and since 1991, has funneled almost $1.6 billion in purchases to

local suppliers."

Wright said the expansion is important to PTI and to SaskPower.

"Partner Technologies is the latest example of a SaskPower supplier

expanding its Saskatchewan base and building new export

opportunities," Wright said. "Today's announcement of a major

expansion in a new facility shows just how potent a partnership

between a firm like SaskPower and its suppliers can become."

Lingenfelter presented the "Power of Business" award to George

Partyka and Caron Hopfner. The "Power of Business" award was

introduced by SaskPower to recognize important contributions made

by local suppliers.

PTI co-owner Caron Hopfner commended SaskPower for its strong

support over the past 10 years.

"Our partnership with SaskPower has played an important role in

helping our company expand, and we are pleased to have them here

as we celebrate this momentous occasion," Hopfner said.

PTI employs 51 people and boasts annual sales of $10 million.

Besides SaskPower, PTI has utility and industrial customers

throughout North America and exports products to countries

throughout the world.
