Municipal Affairs, Culture and Housing Minister Carol Teichrob
announced today that community groups in Rockglen and Shaunavon have
received $5,100 from casino profits through the Associated Entities
Fund.
"The province established the Associated Entities Fund to distribute a
portion of casino profits for the benefit of Saskatchewan people,"
Teichrob said. "Since the beginning of 1997 more than $3 million in
casino profits have been distributed throughout Saskatchewan for
programs that support children, youth and families."
The Rockglen Community Youth Initiative received $4,000 toward
establishing a youth drop-in centre. The youth centre will provide a
safe environment where youth in the community will develop social
skills and positive relationships with adults while participating in
sport clinics and art and theatre workshops.
The Shaunavon Community Action Team received $1,100 to establish a
child abuse prevention program called Circles which introduces
children to boundaries in relationships.
The Associated Entities Fund receives a portion of the profits from
Casino Regina, the Gold Eagle Casino in North Battleford, the Northern
Lights Casino in Prince Albert and the Painted Hand Casino in Yorkton.
