Saskatchewan Environment and Resource Management (SERM) Minister Lorne

Scott and Roger Phillips, President and Chief Executive Officer, IPSCO

Inc. have signed an Environmental Management Agreement intended to

foster co-operation between IPSCO and the Saskatchewan government on

environmental matters.

A key feature of the agreement involves establishment of a joint

working committee which will meet regularly and encourage free and

open discussion of a broad range of topics related to environmental

management. SERM and IPSCO both look forward to this positive and

progressive dialogue on important environmental matters.

"This agreement recognizes the co-operative working relationship which

has developed between SERM and IPSCO and formalizes this approach as

an essential element of proactively addressing environmental issues at

IPSCO," Scott said.

"The agreement recognizes that sustainability, careful use of

resources and integration of economics are keystones to sound

environmental management," Phillips said. "I believe this partnership

will enhance the exchange of information, ideas and communication

between the parties and demonstrates a commitment to careful and

responsible management of the environment."

SERM is responsible for management and protection of the
