SASKTEL MOBILITY ANNOUNCES 1999 CELLULAR EXPANSION

Released on November 16, 1998

Deputy Premier and Crown Investments Corporation Minister Dwain

Lingenfelter today announced that SaskTel Mobility will expand its

cellular services to four more Saskatchewan communities in 1999 -

Pierceland, Major, Turtleford and Big River. Also in 1999, SaskTel

Mobility will improve cellular service to four other communities -

Chamberlain, Wadena, Asquith and Coleville.

"Each year, SaskTel Mobility conducts a detailed economic study in

order to select new areas for cellular expansion," Lingenfelter said.

"SaskTel looks at factors such as population, level of economic

activity and the volume of highway traffic to see if an area warrants

making the capital investment to bring cellular service to it."

SaskTel introduced cellular service to Saskatchewan in 1989 and

continues to build on Saskatchewan's largest cellular network. This

network has expanded to include all Saskatchewan cities, many of the

larger towns and most of the major connecting corridors. Through an

affiliation with Mobility Canada, SaskTel Mobility customers also

benefit from the most extensive cellular coverage across Canada.

"SaskTel is committed to providing Saskatchewan customers - rural and

urban - with wireless communications solutions for the families and

businesses," Lingenfelter said.

"SaskTel Mobility is leading the way in Saskatchewan in the area

of innovative wireless services - such as digital PCS and

Wireless Internet - and at the same time expanding and improving

the analog cellular network."

SaskTel Mobility is proud to provide cellular service through

more than 130 SaskTel Mobilty Centres throughout the province.

SaskTel is the leading full service communications company in

Saskatchewan, providing voice, data, Internet, text and messaging

services over a digital network, as well as cellular, paging and

FleetNet 800 service through its SaskTel Mobility division.
