Released on November 16, 1998
Economic and Co-operative Development Minister Janice MacKinnon, on
behalf of Municipal Affairs, Culture and Housing Minister Carol
Teichrob, today announced the Saskatchewan Wheelchair Sports
Association received $1,100 in Casino profits through the Associated
Entities Fund.
"The province established the Associated Entities Fund to distribute a
portion of casino profits for the benefit of Saskatchewan people,"
MacKinnon said. "Since the beginning of 1997 nearly $3 million in
casino profits have been distributed throughout Saskatchewan for
programs that support children, youth and families."
The Saskatchewan Wheelchair Sports Association's Celebrate
Abilities 98 project will use the grant to assist in the provision of
further educational materials and hands on learning experience for
people with disabilities.
The Associated Entities Fund receives a portion of the profits from
Casino Regina, the Gold Eagle Casino, North Battleford, the Northern
Lights Casino, Prince Albert and the Painted Hand Casino, Yorkton.
