CITIZENS ALL RECEIVES ADDITIONAL FUNDING

Released on November 6, 1998

Social Services Minister Harry Van Mulligen today announced that

Citizens All of Moose Jaw has received $59,760 in annual funding to

expand a program allowing individuals with challenging intellectual

needs to move out of their parental homes and into a shared living

arrangement in Moose Jaw.

"Our department appreciates and values the quality residential

services which Citizens All has provided to Moose Jaw and area over

the past twenty-five years," Van Mulligen said. "Social Services is

pleased to work in partnership with Citizens All in responding to

community needs by providing funding for group homes and supportive

living services in the community."

Citizens All currently operates four adult group homes and a group

living program serving 25 permanent residents. The agency also

operates a supportive living program which provides services to an

average number of 30 individuals living in their own homes.

"Citizens All Association is pleased by the support and encouragement

we've received from the Department of Social Services in the

development of this new and innovative Group Living Program," said

Donna Corthey, Executive Director. "This program marks a new

direction for all of us and we look forward to continued support from

the Department as together, we explore creative housing options for

the people we serve."

Over the years, Citizens All has been innovative, creative and

very responsive in dealing with a number of individuals with

significant behavioural challenges. Community-based agencies

like Citizens All are a key link in a service network which

enables individuals with disabilities to enjoy and participate in

a full community life.

"Our partnerships with community-based agencies allow us to work

together to achieve the goal of ensuring individuals with

intellectual disabilities participate as fully as possible in

society," Van Mulligen said.
